COVID-19 UPDATE

March 31, 2020

Canadian Business College continues to monitor the situation daily to ensure our staff and students are meeting or exceeding all recommended health practices. Our campuses remain closed as we continue to promote self isolation and social distancing to assist in flattening the infection curve. Thankfully to date we have had no reported cases of COVID 19 from any CBC staff or students. The state of emergency has been extended for another 14 days as our provincial and federal governments along with public health, work diligently to protect our communities and population from increasing risk.

Canadian Business College has successfully moved our classes to an online learning environment allowing both faculty and students to safely continue their academic studies in the short term. We are very grateful for our students who have persevered through this challenging transition in a very positive way and have collectively come together to enhance the learning environment in new ways. A big thanks to the education and faculty teams who have worked tirelessly to make this transition stable and available on a very short timeline. Your dedication to each other and our students is very evident during this extremely difficult time!

Moving forward we will continue to monitor the situation very closely and be flexible in our preparations to return to classes on campus. At this time here are our proposed timelines that are subject to change as new information is made available:

Tuesday, April 14

CBC campuses will re-open with critical staff onsite to prepare for students and staff returning

Monday, April 20

Classes will resume on campus for all students if deemed safe by the Ontario government and public health for staff and students

Our admissions and student finance teams continue to work remotely with new students starting their programs as previously planned in the online environment rather than on campus. We also continue to enroll students into April start dates for most programs at every campus so if you would like to get a jump start on a new career we can help you do that now from the safety of your home.

Lastly we would like to personally thank all the front line health workers, first responders, medical companies and volunteers for putting themselves at risk daily to combat this virus and care for the sick. Also many thanks to the essential services workers who are making it possible for the rest of the population to self isolate and contribute in a positive way to the battle. Canadian Business Colleges asks that the remaining population stays home and self isolates when you can and if you have to go out for essential needs then please be aware and participate in social distancing measures as we are all part of the solution to reduce the risk.

You can protect yourself and help prevent spreading the virus to others if you:

DO

  • Wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or flexed elbow when you cough or sneeze
  • Avoid close contact (2 meter or 6 feet) use social distancing when in public places
  • Stay home and self-isolate

DON’T

  • Touch your eyes, nose, or mouth if your hands are not clean

Stay safe, be well and remember we will all persevere!
